Fishing

Your holiday home gives you access to some of the best salmon fishing, trout fishing (rainbow trout, sea trout and brown trout) and coarse fishing (grayling, perch and pike) Scotland has to offer. The holiday properties have a view over the River Tay Scotland's largest fishing river. You can venture from your holiday property to fish upriver in the Tay's established salmon beats, or you can take advantage of the close proximity of trout lochs in the Golden Loch Fisheries and at Lindores Loch. You can fish from your holiday property all year round, whether you are following the salmon and trout season, or take advantage of the all-year round coarse fishing, or the well stocked still water fisheries. Indeed in the winter you will find permit costs dip, but for the seasoned fisherman the pleasure of fishing goes on.

Salmon Fishing

Your holiday home is close to the magnificent salmon fishing the Tay and its tributaries, the Lyon, the Isla, the Ericht and the Blackwater have to offer. The fishing on the Tay is commonly by boats, and as your holiday home is near the widest stretches of the Tay you have the opportunity of easy access to the renowned beats licensed by the Scone Palace Estate, and Perth and Kinross Council. It is usual for permits to be booked in advance.

The excellent website www.fishingnet.co.uk gives you detailed lists of the beats close to your holiday home with the permits required and prices. You can approach the Scone Palace Estate directly by phone (01738 552308) or e-mail at factor@scone-palace.co.uk. Perth and Kinross Council can be reached by phone (01738 475211) or e-mail mcrerar@pkc.gov.uk.

If you want salmon fishing closer to your holiday property, try the beats run by the Moncrief Estate at Bridge of Earn, close to the M90. You can fish for salmon and sea trout. Permits available from George Simpson, Brig Store and Paper Shop, Bridge of Earn 01738 812750.

The Salmon Fishing season lasts from 11th January to 30th November in Scotland. You are not permitted to fish for salmon or sea trout on a Sunday.

Trout Fishing

From your holiday home the Golden Loch fisheries (john@goldenloch.co.uk and John and Anne Nicol 01337 840355) and the Lindores Loch are within 10 minutes drive, where you can have a tranquil day's fishing rainbow trout in a beautiful setting. If you want to venture further from your holiday home you will find the Loch Leven Fisheries (40 minutes away), with its fishing facilities for brown trout, but also a leisure centre that caters for all the family.

The wild brown trout official season is from 15th March to 6th October.
