Climbing

Your holiday property has a wonderful range of climbing possibilities, in easy reach, for the avid climber, or those you would like a taster. There are the magnificent Craig-o-Barns routes in Dunkeld, the excellent indoor climbing facility in Dundee, the south facing sea cliffs at Aberdour, and the walls of Rosyth Quarry.

The holiday home is within an hour, by road, of the superb climbing routes at Craig-o-Barns, Dunkeld. There are 12 routes on Polney Crag and Upper Cave Crag, ranging from VDiff to mid E standard. Craig-o-Barns has a five star rating, in terms of access, level of climbs and enjoyment.

From your holiday cottage you take the M90 south to reach both the stunning sea cliffs at Aberdour, and the Rosyth Quarry. The sea cliffs, Hawkscraig, Aberdour face south and give fantastic views to the Forth Road Bridge, and the splendid Railway Bridge. With a descent of moderate difficulty, you have access to 15 routes (from Vdiff to Extreme) which are especially good for VS climbers. The quarry at Rosyth, closer to the M90, has 11 registered routes, with standards varying from Vdiff to HVS.

Within half an hour from your holiday property, by car, you can reach the Avertical World Indoor Climbing Centre, Dundee. Climbing, whatever the weather. This great centre in a converted church provides courses, individual tuition and roped or unroped fun for novices and experts. Family and kids sessions are available.
